Where is hip hop headed? I am kind of old school (29) and I remember the days of freestyling in the park for the fun of it. Before the commercialism, before the fueds and killings, before biggie and pac, before ludacris raps for middle aged white lady's on the ellen degenerous show, when hip hop had a message. You told a story. You lived a life and felt your rhymes it wasn't all about getting high. it was about an innercity struggle with life. It was real.
Now we have songs like Chicken noodle soup , come on. I am not hating on new hip hop, There are still some people out there that tell a real story. But gone are the days of Hip-hop sessions just for the sake of Hip-Hop. just to enjoy the freedom and fun of a lifestyle. It used to be more free back then. It was fun, Where has the Fun gone in hip-hop?

Hip Hop is headed in the right direction. Media perceived "Hip Hop" (or urban pop) is blueprinted and going nowhere but downhill. The faster the better in my opinion. When people finally realize how dumbed down the stuff they're listening to is, maybe they'll listen to something better. Check into your local hip hop scene. Look for local hip hop artists. They might not be doing a lot of shows depending on your area, but they're out there. You have to sift through all of the bs to find the true stuff. I've been rhyming for 19 years, listening for 21, and between myself and the people I'm cool with, I know the true side of things is headed in the right direction. Once you find someone who is true to the culture, find out people they're involved with or listen to and you'll find a lot more of the good stuff.

I agree...most of these groups or rappers are 1 hit wonders...just enough to recieve a check to pay off back child support or something...Hip-Hop is dead like Nas said...
hey, check out mims...he's hot ;o)
I grew up with the West Coast rappers Like NWA, Tupac, Ice-T stuff like that. It depends on what you grew up on. I like the gangsta rap style. I do like a story in my rap. Anything that's been around long enough will become acceptable. Once mainstream America gets a hold of you, you become vanilla. But different strokes for different folks. My favorite is "Midnight" by Ice-T...very raw and it tells a story.
