this whole 'hip hop is dead' movement is really startin to eat at me and its about time that somebody called it like it is so here goes: hip hop is not dead, new york hip hop is dead, anybody sayin hip hop is dead is most likely from new york and is really just hatin cuz ny aint been on top in *YEARS* therefore, they feel if it aint new york, it aint hip hop (which explains all the hate towards the south... texas in dis ******!) so to all my 'hip hop is dead' people... stop blamin the south for *YOUR* problems, if hip hop was really dead you would be doin somethin other than b itchin and moanin to save it-WOULDN'T YOU???

Is hip hop dead or is NEW YORK hip hop dead??? (new york hip hop is dead, and be sure to read the details...)?fake myspace

I think mainstream hip-hop is dead, but as far as underground hip-hop, and independent hip-hop, it's alive. I live here in florida, (17 years now) and all you hear on the radio is the same bad songs over and over again, and sometimes you here the same song within the same hour. Back in the '90s, mainstream music was actually good, but that's before you had fast-food, cars, and other advertisers trying to use it in commercials or whatever and not every rapper was doing the same thing.

Is hip hop dead or is NEW YORK hip hop dead??? (new york hip hop is dead, and be sure to read the details...)?myspace pics myspace.comI think when they say hip hop is dead, they mean that it IS dying. without the empire state there would be no rap period and hip hop will never survive without NY. don't forget about Jay-z, Talib, mos def, and papoose. they're better than any southern artist out now. Report It

gotta agree with kidblaze. new york made, nurtured, developed, and shaped hip hop. hip hop isn't hip hop without bboy's,dj's,mc's,and graffiti real talk look it up. ant currently south don't got none of that. midwest, and west coast even got that down. Report It

MAYBE IF WERE LUCKY!
Well, yes. Ok. I see your point.
hey, stop blaming NY

it means that we need new mixes. and we do. we actually love th south up here. stfu

Ummm I don't like rap period.I think it has been on the decline for years and really isn't gonna show any signs of coming back.I don't care where the rappers are from because I used to really like tupac but let's face it man rap isn't nearly what it used to be.It's all about stuff with no meaning.Lip Gloss? This is why i'm hot? Come on those songs have no meaning.MTV doesn't play much rap anymore meaning it's severly dieing off in the main stream.Hip hop is dieing if not dead.
NEW YORK HIP-HOP died 2003.....My opinion is Nobody's stepping up 2 the plate...You have a few New Yorkers making a comeback but where's the rest of them at? Jadakiss..Ja Rule..Fat Joe...Lil Kim...Foxy...DMX.....LL COOL J...Back in the day they were hot sh*t...Mims trying to say that he gonna bring New York back?Yeah right...I f*cks with NAS...He's my favorite Rapper since illmatic and his NEW cd aint even sell....He spits the truth...these other rappers cant touch him with a 3 foot pole.

DIRTY SOUTH..VA ALL DAY
rap music has been around 30 years and is nothing new.

it reached its peak between 1988-1993 and has slowly declinded since however it is not going away and will still be here in 100 years, like rock n' roll music.
RELAX!!!!
I am from the Midwest. You have to give New York it's props because hip hop was founded in the Bronx. The south is hot right now, but you need to check out some of the underground stuff artists from NY are putting out. New york is still representin like they are suppose too. The south ain't running s h i t son so don't get it twisted. Don't sleep on the midwest, Twista, Common, Kayne West. Wake up son. Look how big the south is. It goes from Texas to Florida and all points in between. How can you compare several states to one... you can't. With all those states, the south should be in the lead with yall country a s sess.
New York has been out the game for quite some time, but they're making a comeback.

With new cats like Joell Ortiz, Saigon, Papoose.
Hip Hop is dead

when we as the ordenary people, the buyers and listers of the products that these people are comin out with have no control of what come out and what doesnt

When a talented artist is looked down on for actually having talent and telling what he feels "which is what hip hop is founded on"

When we have a crappy song on the radio playin 3 times in one hour "D4L".

When rapping about having money and wasting it is looked at as kool.

"Ive heard rappers say there drinking tearing 100 dallor bills" if this is true then next time you run into one ask them for that bill if they have money like that.

hip hop was a way to inform the country how the shape of the ghettos are in shackles to unify peoples and start something

now we as people are not connected we dont care about eachother blaming this on hip hop no but it does have a part on the development of our communitys.

I was raised without a father figure music had a big influince on me. No matter what people say you pick up traits from you surrounding.

"so what happends when your sorrounded by dumb,

non-creative, small minded music?"

Hip Hop Is Dead

--%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt; It will comeback one day

when us as the listners and buyers have issues in our community that we can all relate to and need to change then it will comeback. when people start carring about our communitys it will come back

who knows when but it will comeback might take another 9/11

might take another rodney king beating what ever the means it will be back
hip hop is dead And It's Even Worse in 07 Albums Just When I Thought It Couldn't Any Worse When I Heard Song's Like Lean Wit It Rock Wit It Soulder Lean Chicken Noddle Soup and ididn't want to say it.... Laffy Taffy And Now I Here Lip Gloss That Toke The Cake There's still some good rappers like Nas Mos Def Talib Kweli and Common To Name A Few
You see this question being asked all over the web by rock fans, **** scared of loosing their place at the top of the tree.

read this and notice the parallel with disco.

"Though disco music had enjoyed several years of popularity, an anti-disco sentiment manifested in America. This sentiment proliferated at the time because of over-saturation and the big business mainstreaming of Disco. Worried about declining profits, rock radio stations and record producers encouraged this trend. According to Gloria Gaynor, among others, the music industry supported the destruction of disco because rock music producers were losing money.[3] Many hard rock fans expressed strong disapproval of disco throughout the height of its popularity. Among these fans, the slogan "Disco Sucks" was common by the late-1970s."

"To "...fans of rock music", disco was a "direct and intentional challenge to rock鈥檚 position." Rock fans believed that "...disco represented all that was synthetic, aristocratic,...fake" and elitist, "...while populist rock stood for all that was earthy and real." Whereas "...[r]ock had been an ongoing celebration of uncontested straight male sexual dominance; disco bypassed hetero men in favor of black women divas, gay male dancers, and virtually any other alternative."[7] White American male hard rock fans who spoke out against the music were sometimes accused of prejudice for objecting to disco's connection to minorities (blacks) and the gay subculture."
